(1) \u00a0\u00a0One of the types of elaboration involved a specific example. \u00a0The students took\u00a0a multiple-choice test with both definition and example\u00a0questions. \u00a0\u00a0Balch found that students who received\u00a0examples of the psychology terms performed better on\u00a0both types of questions than students who received only\u00a0the repeated definitions.\u00a0\u00a0Using examples in teaching may be one of the effective teaching strategies for improving comprehension.<br><br><strong>Notes<br><br><\/strong>1. \u00a0There were three elaboration conditions in this study (paraphrase, example, and mnemonic). \u00a0See Balch (2005) for more information about these conditions and other findings. \u00a0\u00a0<br><br><strong>References<br><br><\/strong>Balch, W.
